I went to Cherrington Elementary School from Kindergarden to 2nd grade. Then, I went to Emerson Magnet Elementary School from 3rd garde to 5th grade, and was in the world cultures program. Next, I went to Blendon Middle School from 6th grade to 8th grade. Currently I am at Westerville North High School and am finishing up my senior year. I have been going to North since 9th grade.

Although there are many places where the westerville city school district comes up short, there are a large group of students, parents, admin, and more who have a passion for learning and want to make the districts better.
That being said there have been many issues with students not feeling represented by their administration and a lack of diversity in the faculty members that are in our buildings.
The prioritization of money has also come into question over the years. One of the main things that stuck out to me was the new paint on walls in middle school and some unnecessary funding to some sports programs where in both cases the school had many maintenance issues that affected students including but not limited to there being broken locks on bathroom stalls

I have had a very good 12 years in the Westerville City School District. Everyone does a good job at mainting a positive and supportive environment that encourages diversity and understanding amongst its students. They also make it an effort to help students in need and fund various clubs and activities. At first, throughout elementary I did have a largely negative experience, experience large systematic racism from the district staff and teachers, but that has since been rooted out and largely changed, and I am ever greatful. Now, a big problem would be getting enough bus drivers to cover the routes for all the students. We frequently have bus shortages and shortened school days to account for the bus drivers schedule. If I were to see change in anything, it would be to better organize the bus system and routes to better help students.

I think that the school has improved greatly in the last few years and that any problems are a result of the previous admin

I went to Westerville north and I loved how the teachers seemed to care about the students. Most of the teachers I had supported and helped students when they needed it. My biggest problem with this school district is the lack of diversity - especially in the staff. The staff at my school was mostly white. I never had any teachers that were people of color. Hopefully in the future this school district can hire more teachers of different races and backgrounds.

This is a really good school district, there are lots of schools and the district is working on expanding so that there isn't as much overflow in the schools. It's a good place to be and all of the teachers work hard to help students, including parents, coaches, administration and so many more people.

Westerville City School District seemed to have cared more about their looks than the students when I was there. A lot of focus was on the construction while also making sure COVID-19 guidelines were being followed. Many days students were sent home early because of poor bus regulations, and students often were late to class because most staircases were closed due to construction. Like any public school system, it was not a pleasant experience.

My personal experience with my school district has been pretty grey. I transferred here at the beginning of my 6th-grade year and it has been pretty ok. Westerville City schools definitely have their ups and downs but there pretty ok.

I think WCS is a decent enough district. It's not especially special but it gets the job done and in some cases it gets it done well. Teachers are usually very nice and most I've experienced are lenient on late work. Good and resources are average, nothing too out of the ordinary. If you're interested in a STEM or medical field, the connection to Delaware and Columbus career centers is very beneficial.

I like how in this district we have a lot of helpful resources and the administration are very helpful too. The change I would like to see is more diversity and more classes about the different cultures so we can learn more about each other.

I'm currently a freshman attending Westerville City Schools and I really feel like I belong here. I've been treated well by both students and teachers, I feel like I've been learning well with all the resources provided, and the environment is pretty good to me. My school is currently going through with renovations so there are some distractions but nothing too much. There's a lot of diversity and I feel like I connect well with my peers. I love the school culture here, there's a lot of school spirit coming from everyone.

I think Westerville City Schools are good for academics and opportunities, but as a community I think there are still things that need to change. They talk about how mental health is important and should be looked at through a productive lens, yet don't actively try to achieve what they say they should. Those who hold a leadership position have said that students aren't finding the right resources, or they should just find the right resources on their own. I think that's a weird way to approach a subject that they see as significant. It seems like they are putting it on the back burner and make it seem like the students are the problem or are falling short when it comes to resources. I don't think that is the issue at hand, nor is it a good way to touch base on subjects like this.

I feel as though there are a lot of class choices that allows you to study an area of choice to prepare for college, but our councilors don't have time to individually help us with our schedules and setting us up for college.

I absolutely loved my time at Westerville Central high school. I had a lot of great teachers that truly cared for each and every one of their students. Even after I moved out of the school district during my junior year of high school I was still able to email a past teacher who helped me out in a class at my new school where the teachers were less concerned with helping. I feel that all of my teachers did a great job preparing me for college and were really helpful in my successes now.
