Resurfaced clip of Ruth's quip about Eamonn leaving for younger woman

A clip of Ruth Langsford joking about Eamonn Holmes leaving her for a younger woman has resurfaced following reports of them splitting up. The former This Morning presenters are said to have called it quits on their marriage after 14 years.

According to The Sun, the couple's representatives released a statement, "confirming their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing". The pair are understood to be preparing an official statement to share with their fans on social media.

It’s been claimed that the relationship breakdown is due to work commitments taking their marriage “in different directions”. However, they are said to be “determined to stay friends and keep things amicable”.

Ruth and Eamonn had been together for 27 years. They were married in 2010 and have a son, Jack, 22, together. Eamonn also has three children from a previous marriage - sons Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and daughter Rebecca, 33.

It came as a huge shock to much of the nation when the news of their alleged separation came to light yesterday (May 26).

On an episode of Loose Women in 2022, the panellists, including Ruth, were discussing being replaced by a younger partner.

The presenter confessed she would rather her husband left her for a 25-year-old than someone her own age, confessing that was her "worst fear".

She explained: "See I think, people go, 'Oh, you'd hate it if you were dumped for a younger woman'. I go, 'No, I would hate it because...' then I could do the whole cliché thing, 'Oh, Eamonn is such a cliche, he's going with a 25-year-old, how sad.'

"But then I think 'No, the worst thing for me is if he went off with someone the same age." She candidly added: "I think that is harder than being dumped for someone younger. That's my worst fear."

Ruth's co-star Linda Robson reassured her friend and colleague as she said: "That's not going to happen."

It's not the first time Ruth has joked about Eamonn leaving her for someone else either, as she also joked that she would be a "spiteful ex".

In August 2019, the couple were talking about the bitter break-up between Paul Hollywood and his ex-girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fullam on ITV's This Morning.

Eamonn quipped that he would be stuck with a "spiteful ex" if he opted to leave Ruth, so she replied: "I would be so spiteful. You wouldn’t want me."
