About me and my therapy practice

I have extensive experience of working with individuals, couples and groups since 2006. At this point I guess what really matters to you is deciding whether or not I may be the right therapist for you. If so, please read on.

I first attended therapy in the year 2000. Back then I wasn't even sure what a counsellor or psychotherapist was, or how they could help me. I just knew I was going through yet another appalling episode of depression, despite attempting a multitude of ways to prevent this. My experience of therapy was so positive that I went on to train to be a therapist so I could help others attain the same outcome and live a more contented life. Even now I appreciate the challenge, growth and benefits of therapy, so I have attended as an individual, as part of a couple or as a group member ever since. It's fair to say I walk the walk as well as talk the talk.

I believe one of the best ways to know if therapy, or a particular practitioner is for you is to just give it a go. You'll soon 'feel' if it is for you or not and please don't be afraid to say so. I offer a free online or phone session of 30 minutes to help you decide if you'd like another appointment. Usual charges for 50 minute sessions are; Individual £50 and Couples £70. Concessions are available for some, such as some people on income support, so if you think this may apply to you, please ask.

I am fully accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and fully insured with the Psychologists Protection Society. If you would like further details about anything please just ask.

Practice description

If you chose to come to a session, I will want to know what you hope to gain from attending therapy. Once your therapeutic goal is known, all the interventions I offer will be with the aim of achieve this goal. What I offer may vary immensely, but may be reflective listening, offering alternative perspective, studying therapeutic models and techniques etc. In my experience clients usually 'sense' whether or not therapy is working for them, so give it a go and trust your judgement.
